*Bloating got you down? Fear not--coffee, caffeinated drinks, asparagus and celery will help you get rid of excess fluid and sodium. Also, water and foods with a high water content (such as cucumbers) help flush excess sodium from your body, thereby easing that bloating feeling. Try potassium-rich bananas as well.


Yield: 6 servings

*1 cup whole-wheat flour
*1 cup all-purpose flour
*1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
*1/2 teaspoon salt
*1/4 teaspoon baking soda
*2 cups nonfat buttermilk
*1 large egg, separated
*1 tablespoon canola oil
*1 tablespoon vanilla extract
*2 large egg whites
*2 tablespoons sugar
*waffle iron

1) Stir whole-wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in large bowl.
2) Whisk buttermilk, egg yolk, oil and vanilla in a separate bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon just until moistened.
3) Beat 3 egg whites in a mixing bowl with electric mixer until soft peaks form. Add sugar and continue beating until stiff and glossy. Whisk 1/4 of egg whites into batter. Fold in remaining beaten egg whites with rubber spatula.
4) Preheat waffle iron. Brush surface lightly with oil. Fill iron 2/3 full of batter. Cook until waffles are crisp and golden, 5-6 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter, brushing surface with oil before cooking each batch.
