*According to a recent study, postmenopausal women who want to lose weight while gaining lean muscle mass should increase their protein intake. Inadequate protein intake during caloric restriction may be associated with adverse body-composition changes in postmenopausal women. However, healthy, nutrient-rich choices need to be made when upping that protein.

*John Hopkins University recently released a study citing that energy drinks (even just one can a day) may be harmful to teens. Energy drinks, such as Red Bull, are loaded with caffeine, which can cause blood to become sticky and increase the risk for cardiovascular disease. When combined with stress or high blood pressure, blood vessel functioning can become impaired and the risk of blood clotting can increase. The U.S. government does not require energy drink cans to bear labels quantifying the amount of caffeine inside and warning of potential health risks.
